We have seen first-hand the growth in popularity of the virtual accounting department. We have also watched with interest the growth of the virtual office.
It was not that long ago that the idea of an accounting department that is not in the office was like something out of the Jetsons. But those perceptions have changed as more and more offices figure out that they can get higher quality work from US-based staff virtually than they can by going through the hassles of hiring and housing an entire department.
As with virtual accounting departments, it is only in recent years that the virtual office has taken off. More and more people work from home many days and from a virtual office on other days.
The future virtual office space will have small suites with shared work spaces, movable walls, whiteboards on every surface and virtual receptionists. “I absolutely believe that this is a strong trend in the future of office occupancy,” said the developer of one the new virtual office spaces outside of Washington DC. “We think at the moment there is relatively unabated demand from the creative community and there aren’t any natural locations.”
That is great, but it is rather different from a virtual accounting department, which is all about eliminating a physical location for a business and reducing overhead costs. Rather than rent office space and hire accountants, businesses can hire a virtual accounting department to take care of all the accounting needs.
The concept in which these two ideas intersect is this: Some companies can now be created without an office at all. The founders of the company can work at home some days, in a virtual office other days, and they never once have to step into the “accounting department” if they hire accountants virtually.
They still need best talent, though, and a team that they can trust. That’s something we at MAVENTRI specialize in. We would be happy to talk to you about our virtual bookkeeping services or anything else. Contact Us.
